When I started my current business, I had never written a book (never mind published one), and I had never sold any of my own “information products” before…
I didn’t know how to create an “eBook” — or how to put one online to sell
I didn’t know how to set up a website so that someone could download and read my book once they purchased it from me.
I didn’t know how to set up a payment system so that someone COULD purchase an eBook from me
I had never built a website (or seen one being built)… I didn’t know my “HTML” from my “L-M-N-O-P”
I had never “uploaded” a file to an online server — which means I had no idea how to get website hosting or put the website up once I DID build it
I had never used or even SEEN how an email auto responder system worked
I had never used or set up a “pay per click” advertising account
I didn’t have any idea how to do an “affiliate program”
I didn’t know how to use “web stats” to figure out how much traffic was coming to my website
Further, when it came to the “business” side of things…
I had never started or ran an internet business before
I had zero experience with internet advertising
And to top it all off, I ended my last job literally the DAY my first website came online I did have one thing on my side:
A good friend who had successfully published an eBook online, and who was making money selling it.And he gave me the gift of showing me how he did it…So after having him encourage, push, and even INSULT me into action, I finally decided to “give it a try” and write a book.
But what to write about?
I knew a thing or two about selling and marketing songs (that was my past work).
But that didn’t seem like a topic that many people would want to learn about (I had worked in that industry for about 8 years or so, and I saw that it was a competitive, saturated world).
So I kept thinking about it.
Well, as it turns out, I had spent the past couple of years learning about how to live a more… well… enjoyable social life.
You see, I was basically a social “late bloomer” — or something.
And a few years before, when I left my old home to move about 1,000 miles away, I found myself broke. So I decided to do something about it, and I started studying the topic of making money online. It was interesting and important to me personally, so I really spent time learning about it.
The good news is that when I decided to write a book and put it online, it made some money. So it just seemed to make sense that I should write a book of advice on how to make money online… for others who might be in the same situation I was in before I learned how to actually write an eBook and sell it.
I locked myself in my bedroom, and I wrote day and night for about 3 weeks. I didn’t worry about creating the most sophisticated or grammatically artistic work… I just wrote to get the material down in writing.
I focused on getting the KNOWLEDGE out, and explaining what I knew about how to make some money online.
No fancy degree, no letters after my name, no “credentials” — just my own experience.
Then it came time to actually “publish” the book, and start marketing it.
I had NO idea what I was in for…
When it came time to set up the business online, and put my book up for sale, I imagined that there would be a little bit of a “learning curve” to it. But what happened next was almost unbelievable.
Around that time, I had been reading books about how people were making huge money online. It seemed that everywhere you looked; someone was making STUPID money by setting up a website and somehow connecting it to their bank account… where the money flowed like a faucet.
The technology “bubble” had just burst on the internet the year before, but still the stories were fresh in everyone’s minds. The message was clear: “Getting Rich Is Easy On The Internet.”
Let me tell you how “easy” it was for me to get started:
I wrote my first sales letter, and contacted a famous marketing guru to get some advice. He said that it looked like someone had TAKEN A PEE on my website. I’m not kidding (the page was yellow, and rather ugly). He didn’t even want to help me until I “cleaned it up” (true story). I think I scared him away, because we never did work together
I had no idea how to get a “merchant account” — and they were MUCH harder to get online then — so I had to sign up with a company that charged 15% (!) to take the payments for me
My first web hosting account took THREE WEEKS to get my website working (something about a “DNS problem” — which I still have no idea what that means). Every day I called, checked, called, checked… a full three weeks. Nothing.
When my website finally DID start working, it would go down regularly for several hours at a time. One time it went down for three days.
When I first started, I had no “opt-in landing page” — it was just a sales letter and a “buy button.” When I put up the opt-in page, the email company that I was working with went down all the time, which literally SHUT DOWN my website as well. So if it wasn’t MY web hosting that was down… it was my email company…
After calling up the email company several times per week to complain, I finally decided to take matters in my own hands, and I bought an email program to send out my email newsletters myself… from my own computer. Guess what happened? The first time I sent a mailing, my internet DSL provider shut my internet connection down!
And then, after I got them to turn my connection back on, I went on a trip for about 2 weeks, and the night I returned home, I had a hard drive in my computer fail — leaving two solid weeks of new leads on a drive that was potentially damaged beyond repair — and no way to market to the leads I had collected! (Fortunately, I was able to recover the leads a couple of weeks later, at a high cost… and by then they were going cold)
The message I’m trying to get across is simple:
It’s NEVER as easy as someone says to “get rich on the internet.”
Obstacles, challenges, and problems always come up. That’s just part of life. It happened to me, and it has probably happened to you.
But if I can make my business work with THAT many problems and obstacles…
then you have at LEAST the same level of opportunity that I did (and you probably have a MUCH bigger advantage in terms of tools, technology, and training than I ever had).
In fact, here are some of the things that you can take advantage of today, that I had NO access to when I started my business:
Cheap, reliable website hosting that stays up almost 100% of the time
Free and inexpensive tools to find affiliate partners, create keyword lists, analyze questions and surveys from customers, and build prospect lists
Free web statistics and other tracking offered by HUGE companies
Access to merchant accounts and ways to take payments
Reliable, cheap shopping carts and product-delivery systems
Training and coaching from experts who have created successful businesses in the real world, who will show you how they did it… …and a TON of other stuff.
But what’s REALLY exciting is the access to the KNOWLEDGE of how to put it all together.
When I started, there were no “step by step instruction videos” for setting up a website, or writing email newsletters that worked… or just about anything else.
Now there is so much more knowledge and education. And the opportunity just seems to get bigger every day.
To sum up:
You have far more tools, opportunity, and advantages than I had. If you’re willing to do the work, I believe that you can create success for yourself in this new “information product” marketplace that is being created RIGHT NOW.
What you need now is someone to show you how to do it and take you by the hand and lead you through the steps. And you need to be surrounded by a “MasterMind” of similar people who are working to create success for themselves.
I want to remind you:
Others have taken what I’ve taught them, and made SERIOUS money.
I have DUPLICATED my model several times now.
We have done it again with other businesses.
Each one of them started “from scratch” and each one of them is now very successful.
Right now we’re “incubating” a couple of more new businesses, and I’m confident that these new businesses are going to “grow up” into money-earning winners as well.
I’m not trying to brag here, but it’s important that you know that we have a SYSTEM for doing what we do. And I want to teach you the key elements of that system, so you can skip several years of “trial and error” — and I want to give you the benefit of the thousands of dollars I’ve invested in learning these elements…
Most people who hear the story of my business can’t relate to it at all. Like I said before, they assume that I must be lucky, or that I must have some hidden advantage that they will never have.
But this isn’t true.
So how can I be so sure?
Two reasons:
As I mentioned above, we have SEVERAL different successful niche information marketing businesses — this formula DRAMATICALLY reduces the risk of failure
Also as I mentioned above, people that have learned from this mentoring have become INCREDIBLY successful. As I taught a few friends and business people to use the system, and watched them earn high incomes working from home, I realized that this was more than just dumb luck.
So what’s the secret?
The “secret” is not a “secret” really. It’s simply a formula. It’s the step-by-step system that you can use to create products people want to buy… generate prospects and traffic… and convert those people to sales. And I want to tell you about it. But first:
Take a sneek peek at what building a serious, money-generating, online business entails and see if it's really for you...
